
Rosey La Rouge is bringing the burlesque curriculum of The New York School of Burlesque to Sonoma County this summer! This is a pilot program that has been a dream for Rosey over these last few years she has lived in Sonoma County and has missed the joy of a big, beautiful burlesque community.
Sirens Studio in Sebastopol, CA has graciously welcomed Rosey and the new curriculum to their bellydance specialty venue, and will be the host of a student showcase on August 9, 2025!
7 and 8 week Classes offered will be:
Classic Moves and Act Development, and curriculum will be consistent with that of the New York School of Burlesque, as developed by Jo “Boobs” Weldon.

Classic Moves ( $35 DROP-IN)
Sundays, June 15 – August 3 (with the exception of July 27) 1pm to 3:30pm (7 Sundays)
(Limit 10 Students, women/female presenting people highly encouraged)
This is it!
In this 7-week series, which is a combination of Jo Weldon’s signature Essential Burlesque and Classic Moves, you’ll discover the distinctive props and techniques of burlesque! This Drop-in course allows beginners to learn solo techniques with boas, fans, and tassels as well as practice in a group number. Learn how to do an unforgettable striptease, fabulous fan techniques, and titillating tassel-twirling.

June 29-Peels (Gloves and Stockings)
July 6- Pastie Making ($45 includes basic materials, bring your own decor as well)
July 13*- Tassel Twirling (Must sign up in advance HERE*- no drop-in)
July 20-Fans and other useful props (Isis Wings, Scarves)
August 3- Learn a Basic Group Number/ Rehearse for Showcase
Burlesque Act Development *
(Limit 9 Students, all performers encouraged, *some previous live performance experience of any kind recommended, especially those looking to advance their current acts or build a new one)
This is a class about growing and refining the knowledge of burlesque and the level of performance in our community! For those who already have a passion for performing, you’ll develop or re-up your own solo routine and be offered a chance to perform that routine in a showcase. The course will include work on burlesque act structure, character development, costuming, performance practice and critique, with possible guests artists invited to give more tips and tricks.
Tuesdays, June 17 – August 5, 7pm to 9:30pm (8 Tuesdays)
*Students in Act Development will have a chance to perform in a culminating student showcase on August 9, 2025 at 8pm in the Sirens Studio Theatre. Burlesque Essentials participants will learn a classic burlesque routine and will have the option to perform in a group number at the showcase.
